Roller Shutter Doors
The main access is a continuous sheet curtain steel roller shutter door with an external, low maintenance plastisol-coating (colour - brown). Doors have a standard manual chain operation with electric operation an option. Doors are available with clear heights of 2.5m (8ft 2in) for height code SXA30 garages or 3.0m (9ft 10in) for height code SXA35 garages. Clear widths vary - see tables on the right. For drive through, doors at both gable ends are optional.
Garage Support Structure
SafeGuarD Extra-High Garages have primed steel portal frames at maximum 3.66m(12ft 0in) centres. Roof purlins and wall rails are cold-formed galvanised steel sections and frame bolts zinc plated.
Wall Panels
Heavy-duty, non-combustible, 2.13m (7ft 0in) high Compton SafeGuarD precast concrete panels with steel-reinforced vertical stiffening ribs at 200mm centres are finished externally with an applied spar aggregate. All connecting bolts and other fittings are rusting resistant. All external joints are sealed internally with mastic. A sand and cement fillet is installed to the internal perimeter of external walls.
Applied Spar Aggregate Finish
This maintenance-free, attractive, multi-coloured spar finish harmonises well with surroundings. The spar is factory applied to the front face of concrete wall panels. Aggregate faced concrete samples are available on request for planning applications.
Roofing and Wall Cladding (above wall panels)
Box-profile, galvanised steel sheeting for roofing and wall cladding is finished externally with a low maintenance plastisol-coating (colour - mushroom). In addition, all roof sheeting is finished internally with a ‘Grafo-Therm’ anti-condensation coating. All galvanised steel flashings have a brown plastisol finish giving a smart appearance.
Rainwater Disposal
Our standard specification includes the supply and fitting of a rainwater goods system. Black PVCu guttering is half round 112mm (41/2in approx) with stop ends and running outlet fitted to a brown plastisol steel eaves fascia. Black PVCu downpipes are 68mm (23/4in approx) diameter with discharge shoe at slab level.
Window, Rooflight and Personnel Door Options
Information on our full range of windows, rooflights, personnel doors and other options is available on request.
Concrete Bases
Standard base detail drawings are available on request. The base slab (provided by others) should be 152mm (6in) larger than the external width and external length of garage size selected. To ensure building accuracy and alignment the base slab must be both flat and level.
Garage Layout Drawings and Calculations
As part of enquiry and order progress, standard plan and elevation drawings together with building detail drawings and structural calculations are available for Planning and Building Regulations approval if required.
How to Specify a SafeGuarD Extra-High Garage
We suggest you measure the height, width and length of your vehicle. Then assess what additional clearances are needed for roof racks, aerials, access and storage to establish the approximate garage size required. Next, using the roller shutter door clear height and clear width tables on the right, select the minimum door opening height and width required. This establishes the practical building height and width codes for your garage. For further details, see the coded front elevation drawings on the right hand page.
Using your required length, select the coded internal and external length from tables on the right. Where space permits, select from the standard range of red lengths. These have support frames at their maximum 3.66m (12ft 0in) spacing and hence offer the lowest cost per square metre. Alternatively, choose from the intermediate lengths that use a 1.22m (4ft 0in) length increment.
Allow 1.1m (3ft 8in) for working space between the garage and fences, walls or boundaries.
A typical code of a SafeGuarD Extra-High Garages is SXA35/036/074. This garage has an eaves height of 3.5m (11ft 6in), an external width of 3.81m (12ft 6in) and a length of 7.47m (24ft 6in). The gable elevation mounted roller shutter door clear height is 3.0m (9ft 10in) and the clear width is 3.12m (10ft 2in).
